Wenn ich am kommenden sonntag mit dem bus von London nach Hamburg fahre, zahle ich 57 £. Das ist ein guter preis, darüber will und kann ich nicht klagen. Wäre ich geflogen, hätte ich 30 £ gespart. Das verwundert einen schon. Mit dem zug hätte ich über 500 € gezahlt. Also fast das 20-fache. Und spätestens hier hört der spaß auf.Habe gerade ein interview mit Michael Cramer, grüner MdEP gefunden, in dem unter anderem erklärt wird, wie das sein kein. Ein interessantes video, was ich euch nicht vorenthalten will.
Nicht noch ein autokanzler
Heute war SPD-kanzlerkandidat Frank-Walter Steinmeier zu gast in den Wolfsburger werken von volkswagen. Wie Spiegel Online berichtet, versuchte er sich dort - als vorbereitung auf den wahlkampf - als autokanzler zu profilieren. Zentrale Aussage: Die Abwrackprämie muss verlängert werden. Nach Gerhart Schröder will nun also auch dessen ehemalige kanzleramtschef Steinmeier Autokanzler werden.Wer denkt, dass im jahre 2009 die sozialdemokraten endlich in der realität angekommen sind und auf moderne, umweltverträgliche industrie setzt, sieht sich offenbar getäuscht. Statt dem klimawandel etwas entgegen zu setzten und nachhaltig arbeitsplätze zu schaffen, betreibt die SPD klientelpolitik. Mit Hermann Scheer und Andrea Ypsilanti hätte die SPD durchaus gutes personal, doch scheinen sich diese nicht durchsetzen zu können.Da wirkt selbst Angela Merkel pragmatischer, wobei mir eine atomkanzlerin auch nicht gerade lieb ist. Ich befürchte, auf die umweltkanzlerin können wir lange warten.
Verfassungsschutz wundert sich über 30.000 rechtsextreme neuntklässler
Gestern hat das Kriminologische Forschungsinstitut Niedersachsen unter der leitung von Christian Pfeiffer (gibt es eigentlich noch andere kriminologen?) eine neue studie zum thema jugendkriminalität veröffentlicht. Darin wurde unter anderem auch die politische orientierung von fast 45.000 neuntklässlern untersucht. Das schockierende resultat: 14,4 prozent der schüler seien der studie zur folge als "sehr ausländerfeindlich" einzustufen, während 4,9 prozent angaben, mitglied einer rechtsextremen organisation zu sein.Wie npd-blog und Spiegel Online heute berichten, wirft diese hohe zahl fragen auf. 4,9 prozent der neunklässler seien alleine 30.000 organisierte rechtsextreme, während der verfassungsschutz 31.000 Nazis in organisierten Strukturen zählt, in allen altersgruppen. Irgendjemand muss da wohl falsch liegen.Ich finde das gar nicht so verwirrend. Mal abgesehen von der frage, ob der verfassungsschutz mit dem ihm zur verfügung stehenden mitteln überhaupt in der lage ist, das rechtsextreme spektrum völlig zu überblicken (das kann ja nicht mal die NPD); Was rechtsextrem ist und was nicht lässt sich nicht auf eine allgemeingültige definition redezuzieren. So ist durchaus anzunehmen, dass das KFN andere kriterien für seine studie zu grunde legt als der verfassungsschutz. Da in der studie die schüler selbst nach einer selbsteinschätzung gefragt hat, gilt dies umso mehr.Muss man jetzt aus dieser diskrepanz schließen, dass der verfassungsschutz das potential der rechtsextremen bedrohung jahre lang unterschätz hat? Auszuschließen ist das nicht. Schließlich beruht die zahl des KFN ja nicht auf ihren schätzungen, sondern auf den erfassten angaben der schüler.

The expectations were enormous, as Barack Obama was inaugurated as the 44th president of the United States of America. Not only his spunky agenda was a cause for. During his election campaign, he enthused millions of Americans (and beyond) to support him. He launched the biggest political movement on the Internet ever. Thus, he was expected and he promised, to lead the governance of the White House to a new age of transparency and communication.As the German online news portal Spiegel Online reports, he wasn't able to keep his word until now. Faced with the reality of data protection regulations, his team couldn't find a way to make use of the millions of addresses they collected during the election campaign.In my opinion, this is quite a good thing. It is own thing, to move the masses for a campaign, for a change. But it's another matter, to spam them with callings, to spread the word on the national budget.
Gordon Brown, saver of the world
On www.independent.co.uk, environment editor Geoffrey Lean presented ten clever ideas to combat climate change. Using hemp as a build material, use electric cars and introducing a green taxation system are among them. If the political leaders of the world were to apply these ideas, the world was saved. Doesn't that sound too wonderfully to be true? Pretty much.These ideas aren't very new. The humankind already missed a lot of occasions to lunch a real green revolution. Why should it happen now?What is more, the article implies, that it is just a technical question to stand climate change. To a certain extend it is. But at the end, it is up to each of us, to make a difference. As long we dry our laundry in machines rather than hanging them up in the sun, as long we take our cars to drive distances under 5 km rather than take the bike, as long we heat our flats up to 23 degree Celsius rather than wearing a jumper, it is very unlikely, that our political leader will make the right decisions to fight climate change.Lust but not least: It is more than cynical to state Hu Jintao and Gordon Brown in a list called "The top six world savers." It is a bit like calling Adolf Hitler a peacekeeper, if he was to sign a peace treaty with the Soviet Union after the Battle of Stalingrad.

Verständnislosigkeit. Eine idee, wie sich soetwas verhindern lässt, habe ich nicht. Eine gesellschaft ohne wahnsinn(ige) wird es nicht geben. Es ist schrecklich, wenn menschen im leben keinen sinn mehr sehen. Es ist aber noch viel schrecklicher, wenn sie dabei unschuldige mit in den tod reißen. Der amoklauf von Winnenden ist in seiner schrecklichkeit kaum fassbar.Die reaktionen aus der politik sind ebenfalls unverständlich, dafür umso erwartbarer gewesen. Fast zeitgleich hieß aus der großen koalition, eine verschärfung des waffenrechts sei ausgeschlossenen während über das verbot brutaler "killerspiele" nachgedacht werden könne. Wohl wahr ist die feststellung, dass kein verbot vom privatwaffen ein solches massaker ausschließen kann. Allerdings war die Beretta, mit der Tim K. seine 15 opfer tötete, auch keine pixelkanone aus einem computerspiel, sondern eine ganz reale waffe aus dem privatbesitz seines vaters.The amok run of Winnenden is incomprehensible in its awfulness and brutality. Nonetheless, the reactions of the German politics were very predictible and pointless. The government stated, that their won't be a tightening of the Weapons Act while a ban of brutal "killer games" is considerable. True is: No regulation in the world can rule out such a deed of insanity. However, the Beretta killing 15 people wasn't a pixel gun out of any computer game but a real weapon of the gunman's father's private arms collection.
Wird Bodo Ramelow exkommuniziert?
Wie Spiegel Online am donnerstag berichtete, hat Thüringens wannabe-ministerpresident Bodo Ramelow (linke) den schießbefehl an der mauer bezweifelt und er will die DDR nicht als unrechtsstaats bezeichnen. Da er sich damit in feiner gesellschaft befindet, schaue ich jetzt zum Vatikan und frage mich: Wird Bodo Ramelow jetzt exkommuniziert?
Bristolian Spring/Morgan Van Sessions
The last weekend, I had a recording session in and around Bristol, UK. Mike Hembury and Mark Maddrell wanted to record a demo CD and I helped them playing the organ and I did some engineering. Due to a lack of money, we recorded in an old shed in Bristol and in Mark's caravan. It was an amazing session. On Saturday, Julian Rowlands (Bandoneon) and Ros Stephen (Violin) of UK's leading Tango band Tango Siempre joined our session and recording in the van was just lovely. Well, IN the van is not the right word. As the spring reached this country, is was really warm and I set up my equipment outside in the sun, while the others were playing in the van. This was quite something.

For music addicts, Bristol is definitely a place to go. Three different genres - drum'n'bass, trip hop and dub step - were born here. Due to 80.000 students there's a lot going on and London is just 100 miles away. The city is dominated by the old harbour and...graffiti.For the next weeks, I'll do an internship at the Modern World Studios in Tetbury, which is about 30 min north of Bristol.
Abwrackprämie für Fahrräder jetzt!
Irgendwie war es ja jedem klar. Die umweltprämie abwrackprämie der bundesregierung hat mit ökologie soviel zutun wie die npd mit multikulti. Nicht nur, dass die prämie als teil des konjunkturpaketes ihr ziel verfehlen wird, die deutsche wirtschaft ausreichend anzukurbeln, sie setzt auch völlig falsche akzente. Warum muss man denn, wenn man sein altes auto verschrotten lassen will/soll, ein neues kaufen? Warum nicht ein fahrrad? Warum keine netzkarte für die Deutsche Bahn oder für den nahverkehr? In letzteren fällen bliebe das geld sogar völlig im land.Passenderweise hat der Verkehrsclub Deutschland eine aktion dazu gestartet: "Neue Räder braucht das Land! Umweltprämier jetzt!
Ich halte das für eine gelungende idee.
wohnungslos
Seit letzter woche bin ich wohnungslos. Muss den platz erst finden, an dem ich bleiben will. Momentan schau ich mir Berlin an. Ich möchte allerdings auf den unterschied zwischen wohnungs- und obdachlosigkeit hinweisen.Since last week, I'm homeless. I need to find the right place to stay. Ich hoffe, dass dies während der rezeption des filmes oft und gründlich diskutiert wird.
New Year Eve Reggae from Sweden
As a present for the turn of a year, I present you two (outside of Scandinavia) pretty unkown, but fantastic reggae bands from Sweden, where I linger these days.The first crew is called Livelihood. They sing as well in Swedish as in English. They belong not only to the group of Swedish reggae artists, but also to the very raw raggae bands with a female singer. Does anyone know, where their are so few of them? Their style is mixed with dub elements.Here comes one of my favourite songs of them: Öppna uppKultiration is the second band. Their are from Gothenburg and play a very thrilling mixture of reggae, jazz and folk elements. Great stuff.As an extra song, I show you "Det löser sig" by Timbuktu. This guy is more of an rapper than a reggae singer, but he blends plenty of styles, such as reggae, salsa, polca with rap music. The video is fun.I wish you best vibes for the next year. Music is probably the most powerful weapon in the world: To enforce human rights but also to exercise torture. As the campaign "zero decibel" reports, a wide branch of music is used in the so called "war on terror." Prisoners are exposed to constantly repeated music - 24 h a day at high volume. Though this treatment doesn't cause visible marks, it has a devastating effect on the psyche. Some of the victims are traumatised until the end of their life.On the website of "zero decibel" a list of artist abused for torture is displayed. Zero decibel is a attempt of artist to object against the abuse of their music. Though I don't think that "Hazelnut Tree" or "Dear Moonshine" was used in any interrogation, I joined the campaign, as I think, using music to torture people is the most pervers abuse of music ever and it reveals the double standards of the US in the "war on terror." In the case of a questioning using torture, you can ask, who terrorises who? So Who's the terrorist? The torturer or the tortured one?As the article discovers, Metallica didn't joined the campaign, though their song "Enter Sandman" stands on the list. They are proud to contribute to the "war on terror." So they are proud that their song is used to torture people. Boycott this fucking band.

Two days ago, an Iraqi journalist threw his shoes at George Bush. It isn't a breaking news anymore, but still interesting. In my western eyes, it was a very funny way to protest. It had style. I mean, you can't kill or even harmfully hurt someone with a flying shoe but the message is still clear.The scene reminds me of the shoe toss' western pendant: The cream pie toss. A classic. One of the most popular pie attack hit Bill Gates right in his face:Unfortunately, for the journalist the show toss wasn't ironic or funny at all. An Iraqi friend of mine told me, that throwing one's shows at someone is the most humiliating gesture in the Arab world. However, a thousands of Arabs celebrated the event all over the world. The must have seen the humor in this action. And hey, suicide attacks aren't funny either. To me it is a progress, when these kinds of "unfunny" humour (shoe tosses, not suicide attacks) break the news.PS: As well noteworthy is the behaviour of Iraq's prime minister Nuri al-Maliki. He pretends to try to catch the second shoe, knowing that he won't (and may be don't want) to stop it. But in that way, he can be sure of George Bush friendship.
climate summits successful: industrialised countries protected from climate protection
No final declaration at the climate conference in Poznan, masses of exception at the climate summit in Brussels. I have the feeling, that all the environment ministers and heads of states look at climate summits and treaties as an event to minimise the consequences of climate change: In a sense of reducing the cost of climate protection programmes. In their eyes, climate protection means to protect the industry against stricter restrictions.All in all, their three kinds of politicians: Those who say, climate protection is unnecessary and acting like this and are in charge. These group are called the ignorants and is represented by dinosaurs such as Vladimir Putin or George Bush. You see, this species dies out.The second type of politician makes outstanding speeches on global and generation justice and promise ambitious measures but act like the first group (which means blocking climate protection) and is in power. The queen of these wanna-be-world-savers is Angela Merkel followed by an armada of successful politicians and lobbyists. This group is called the opportunists.The last group is marked by the same outstanding speeches like the opportunists (mostly more ambitious), but have no power to change anything. This group is represented by a million individuals and called the green movement.At this point, the only hope for a new international climate policy is that Barack Obama will be the first representative of a fourth type of politicians.
European values end at its external borders
After the United States of America lost their integrity as an advocate for Human and Civil Rights due to gross scandals such as Abu Ghraib or Guantánamo, Europe claims to be the ideal for these values. Unfortunately, these role is nothing but a dream, only existing in speeches of ruling politicians. Apart from the discrimination against homosexuals in Eastern Europe, pogroms against Romani people in Italy among others, the EU border policy is the most embarrassing and horrible violation of Human Rights in Europe.According to official figures, 1861 refugees died during their attempt, to reach Europe. The real figure might be much higher. Frontex, the EU agency for external border security, has rightly the reputation of a brutal and inhuman authority. But not only Frontex exercise the violation of the Geneva Conventions. The national police authorities are in charge to carry out the deportation of "illegal" immigrants and failed asylum applicants. As a recent incidence in France shows, also the people who show moral courage and try to stop the deportation are in danger to be treated by the police in a violent way.A young man from Senegal should be deported to Senegal. After he was beaten into a plane, the other passengers stood up to object against the police and to force the pilot not to start. Some minutes, a unit of menacingly equipped policemen stormed into the plane, beating the passengers and arresting one of the critics. Die landtagsfraktion der Linken in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern weigert sich, an der freiwilligen überprüfung durch die Stasi-überprüfungskommission des parlaments teilzunehmen. Auf internetseiten wie www.mfs-insider.de, www.kundschafter-frieden.de oder www.grenztruppen.net versuchen ehemalige Stasi-mitarbeiter oder grenzsoldaten den horror der DDR-diktatur zu leugnen. In der taz gab es dazu heute einen lesenswerten artikel. Die stasi-gedächtnisstellen berichten von verstärkten besuchen ehemaliger MfS-offiziere, die versuchen andere gäste einzuschüchtern.Das alles kommt mir irgendwie bekannt vor. Erich Fried hat über eine ähnliche entwicklung ein gedicht geschrieben, was auch an dieser stelle hervorragend passt.

Kleine stilkritik zum schluss: Den webmastern oben genannter seiten verstehen es meisterhaft, die atmosphäre eines typischen DDR-wohnzimmers auf das internet zu übertragen. rechts von der CDU darf es nichts geben
Am 29. 11. hat Mathias Brodkorb (SPD) - gründer von endstation-rechts und abgeordneter des mecklenburg-vorpommerschen Landtag - in der Süddeutschen Zeitung einen artikel über den differenzierten blick auf das politisch rechte spektrum und die rolle der SPD geschrieben.Grundsätzlich gebe ich ihm recht: Es ist essentiell rechtsextremismus von rechtskonservatismus und konservatismus etc. zu unterscheiden. Es gibt auch ideologisch große unterschiede innerhalb der rechten. Endstation-rechts ist tatsächlich ein guter betrachter, der den blick nicht zu sehr eingrenzt.Dass es aus machtpolitischer sicht für die unionsparteien sind macht, parteien und gruppierungen rechts von ihr klein zu halten ist keine neue erkenntnis. Schließlich hat schon Franz Josef Strauß vor mehr als 20 Jahren gesagt, rechts von der CSU dürfe es nichts geben.Dass Brodkorb allerdings der SPD vorwirft, durch den undifferenzierten "Kampf gegen Rechts" dem bürgerlichen lager machtpolitisch in die hände zu spielen, befremdet schon. Würde sich nämlich eine partei etablieren, die rechter als die CDU ist, aber noch nicht rechtsextrem, hieße dies früher oder später, dass die CDU, mit dieser neuen rechten partei und der FDP eine koalition eingehen würden und diese mit sicherheit auch inhaltlich deutlich rechter ausgerichtet wäre, als eine schwarz-gelbe oder gar eine große koalition. Und dies kann nun wirklich nicht im sinne der SPD sein. In meinem schon gar nicht.
