April 2022, I set out to my first trip to Nunavut for fieldwork with FISHES (Fostering Indigenous Small-scale fisheries for Health, Economy, and food Security). Our team had planned a series of interviews, workshop, and presentations with hunters in Taloyoak and Gjoa Haven, and a workshop on food security in the Kitikmeot Region in Cambridge Bay. Unfortunately, due to bad weather and a COVID scare, we could not land in Gjoa Haven and had to head home early.
